Sweet almonds - part of the almond nut family - are often used in skin care and as a food but should be avoided by anyone with a nut allergy. To create the oil, the sweet almond is pressed.
This oil can be used either as a carrier oil for other essential oils, added to other mixtures as a boost to the ingredients already present, or can be used solo as a full treatment oil on its own. Often used in aromatherapy it has become a well-known oil with an expanding list of uses.
Clear skin with sweet almond oil
Sweet almond oil offers a diverse range of characteristics that help create clean, clear, healthy skin that heals easily and is suitable for all skin types.
As it can benefit both oily and dry skin, sweet almond oil is also suitable for anyone with combination skin and will help to bring an even complexion and treat dry and oily patches.
Retinol in sweet almond oil
Retinol is found in vitamin A - which is abundant in sweet almond oil - and boosts the growth of new skin cells. This helps in improving scars and healing skin as well as reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Often found with vitamin A is vitamin E and its family of antioxidants. They reduce signs of aging and offer a protective layer to prevent sun damage.
Fatty acids in sweet almond oil
Following up with the vitamins A and E, the fatty acids that are present feed the skin and help it to reduce not only the typical aging concerns of dry skin, wrinkles, and sun spots or age spots, but also help protect the skin from further damage caused by exposure to the sun. The fatty acids also address acne by removing the oil that builds up on the skin and clogs the pores, forming the acne breakouts that we see on the surface.
Zinc in sweet almond oil
If you are looking to reduce the appearance of scars then the zinc that is present in sweet almond oil may be a vital ingredient. It can be applied directly to the area that needs treatment the most with clean fingertips or a cotton ball.
By treating the spots that need it the most the ingredients are able to absorb into these areas and have the best results.
Almonds are both good in the diet and on the skin. While consuming sweet almonds can benefit both body and skin these benefits are multiplied when applied directly to the skin in the areas that need it the most.
Reduce the signs of aging along with sun damage and boost healthy skin growth and repair with the vitamins A, E, and retinol, while lowering inflammation and boosting the healing ability of the skin cells.
