Self care is so important in the days of rushing everywhere, and it is as important to remember your feet. They are not only the part of the body that supports the most weight when walking or running, they are connected to every other part of the body.
By treating the feet well one can address many areas of health and care for the whole body at one time. A foot soak can be a few minutes or a half hour and include anything from just warm water to a massage function to adding epsom salts or detox products.
Massage With Foot Soak
A warm or hot water foot soak can help with any swelling, foot pain or aches that come from exercise or walking and standing all day. It will also help to relax the overworked muscles in the feet and bring relaxation to the body.
This is a great way to de-stress and relax at the end of the day or week. For added comfort a foot bath with a built-in massage function will target the sore places and increase the pain relief as well as maintain good foot health.
Healing Properties Of A Foot Soak
Epsom salts are known for their healing properties. They fight infection, decrease stress, reduce inflammation, and create a relaxing bubbling sensation.
The minerals, particularly magnesium, present in epsom salts can help to reduce muscle pain while also offering an exfoliating property to the skin, removing any dead or damaged skin cells and allowing new and healthy cells to grow in their place.
It can also help athlete’s foot by improving the drying process and removing the moisture this problem needs to grow. Reducing the dead skin cells offers less area for fungus and infection to hide.
This increase in magnesium may also increase the levels found in the body, which can help to reduce muscle pain throughout the entire body as well as fight inflammation, particularly in cases of arthritis.
Remove Toxins With Foot Soak
A detox foot soak helps remove toxins that build up in your body, and not just the toxins in the feet, but throughout the entire body. Since skin is the body’s largest organ, it is possible to use a detox foot soak to pull all the toxins from the skin through the feet.
Epsom salts, apple cider vinegar, and baking soda are all well known and used detox soaks. Add whichever you choose into warm water and submerge your feet for 30 minutes to get the best results.
Taking care of your feet can benefit the whole body and mind through its healing benefits, stress reduction, and reduction of muscle aches and pains. To get the best results soak your feet 30 minutes at a time, and add a massage function, epsom salts, or other detoxifying treatments that make you feel better.
The feet are connected to the entire body and treating them well is a good start to relaxation and health.
