4 Signs You Need To Get To A Dentist Immediately

Even though preventative dental treatments are more effective than ever, oral health complications are still frighteningly common. Luckily, most of those medical issues can easily be taken care of as long as you catch the early warning signs and head to a dentist right away.

Tooth Fractures

While tooth fractures can be quite alarming, treating that type of damage is relatively straightforward. If the fracture is nothing more than a small chip, then your dentist will most likely replace the missing material with dental bonding. Deeper fractures are generally covered up with a crown or veneer, and those devices often last for 10 years or longer. For a severe fracture, the entire tooth might need to be removed and replaced with an implant.

Chronic Gum Inflammation

Gum disease is one of the most common health problems in the world, and that condition almost always results in chronic gum inflammation. In addition to inflammation, you might also notice that your gums are shiny or tender. When this condition remains untreated, the teeth often become loose and painful sores begin to appear. To treat gum disease, general dentistry will be able to examine and treat gum disease with the appropriate medication. Gum disease is usually cleared up with prescription mouth wash as long as it is caught early on. Advanced cases, however, may need reconstructive gum grafts to fully heal.

Sudden Tooth Pain

Healthy teeth are incredibly resilient, but they must stand up to a lot of punishment. Over time, food debris can get stuck in the microscopic holes in your teeth, and that can lead to tooth decay. If the decay reaches the interior pulp of a tooth, then you are going to experience sudden pain in that area of your mouth. Root canals are the most common treatment option for tooth infections, but most tooth decay can easily be taken care of with treatments and fillings.

Severe Tooth Discoloration

As long as you keep your teeth clean, they should remain relatively white over the years. Unfortunately, severe stains can develop in a matter of days if you aren't careful, and that discoloration is often caused by root damage. In order to treat internal stains, a crown or veneer will usually be placed over the tooth. Before one of those devices is put in place, the tooth must be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized.

The easiest way to avoid all of these issues is to keep your teeth and gums as clean as possible. Brushing and flossing multiple times a day will be a great start, but you should also schedule professional teeth cleaning sessions at least once a year.
