Rosehip oil is made from seeds harvested from rose bushes and has several benefits for the skin. Though there is no one product that is guaranteed to work for everyone - or solve every concern - this oil has the potential to help many people with their skincare goals.
It helps to moisturize, brighten, decrease the occurrence of wrinkles, exfoliate, and help to firm skin and even out coloring including scars due to all the nutrients, fatty acids, and vitamins within.
Fatty Acids In Rosehip Oil
The high level of fatty acids found in a good rosehip oil make it a good moisturizer choice. Since much of the content is water it hydrates the skin and the fatty acids help the skin absorb and hold that moisture.
This also helps to avoid wrinkles because well-moisturized skin is more likely to stay elastic and comprise healthy skin cells.
Vitamins A and C are not only necessary for healthy skin, but are also abundant in rosehip oil, along with the necessary fatty acids. These all counter inflammation as well as even out skin coloring and fight other signs of aging.
Collagen Production From Rosehip Oil
The antioxidant aspects of rosehip oil help to keep down the occurrence of bacteria build-up and the acne that follows, all while maintaining proper hydration and elasticity.
These nutrients are also necessary to decrease scars, reverse oxidative damage, and help to boost collagen production in the skin. Increased levels of collagen help to create healthy looking skin that defies signs of aging and reduces wrinkles.
Exfoliate Skin With Rosehip Oil
Rosehip oil also helps exfoliate skin. By simply adding baking soda to some rosehip oil you can create your own exfoliator at home.
This may not be well suited to those with oily skin or build-up in the pores, as the oil can cause further clogging of the pores and acne may result. For dry skin it can work well at removing dry skin or dead skin cells.
When dead and damaged cells are removed the healthy cells are better able to maintain their health and keep skin looking its best.
For a natural boost of vitamins, minerals, hydration, and collagen to the skin, rosehip oil can be a good choice. The antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties help to maintain skin’s healthy glow, while skin stays hydrated.
The wide range of benefits makes it a good product to add when you want the most benefits possible from just a few steps or products. It is suitable for cleansing, moisturizing, and exfoliating, though it may not be the first choice for those with already clogged pores.
When purchased as a stand-alone oil it can be used in many home-made products, or it can be found in many ready-made products and there’s an option for almost every price point.
