Rosacea is a skin condition that affects the face - usually the central third of the face - especially the nose and cheeks. It can be quit embarrassing as the face is noticeably red and elevated flares can cause skin to suffer from developing facial pustules, swelling and papules.
It can be quite unsightly as the red flush of the skin can be hard to hide. It is considered an adult form of acne as many sufferers are over the age of 40. While there are three types that affect the skin, a fourth type can also affect the eyes.
If it is left untreated, it will worsen over time. There are small blood cells that can become dilated and make the appearance of the condition even worse.
Typically those who suffer from this skin condition are incredibly sensitive to changes in temperature and even food allergies can spur it on.
Heightened outbreaks are usually countered by bouts of remission. Many times topical steroid creams are suggested to combat the appearance of the condition while many even take oral medication to help lessen the redness.
There are, however, ways in which you can minimize the occurrence and severity of flares over time with natural remedies.
There are certain aids that come from natural foods, minerals and herbs that will properly cool the face, lessen the redness and heal the abrasions.
A cucumber mask is known to help the appearance of this skin condition as cucumbers have natural cooling and restorative properties that will help minimize redness and treat the overall area most affected. This helps balance out the look and feel of the skin and makes the skin appear more uniform in color. Using this tactic for at least a month, two to three times a week, will have your skin appearing less red and irritated.
Chamomile oil is also known to help sufferers, especially during bad flare ups. This oil has elements that help cool red skin and the pustules that may develop in elevated cases. Those who are sensitive to certain plants like marigold, daisies or ragweed should use another alternative.
If you are unsure, test a little bit of the oil on an unaffected part of the skin to make sure you don't have a sensitivity to it. The chamomile plant has many positive and healing qualities that make it an excellent natural remedy for skin affected by rosacea.
Similarly to when you get a bad sunburn, the properties in aloe vera can help cool and heal rosacea on the face. It does this be detoxifying the skin that is affected on the surface, as well as seeping into the pores of the skin and healing from the inside out.
Aloe vera is also known to be a great anti-inflammatory agent. The warm, red effect that rosacea has on the skin can be helped and alleviated by the cooling, healing properties of the aloe vera.
