If you like filling your glass with red wine, there’s good news. Resveratrol is a potent antioxidant you’ll get with every sip. It helps keep you in good health and scientists believe it can fight off the signs of aging inside and out. From improved cardiovascular health to reducing oxidative stress, it can keep you looking, feeling and thinking young!
As a phytoalexin, resveratrol is found in more than just your favorite bottle of red wine. Eat red grapes with the skin on them or raspberries, or pour yourself a glass of purple grape juice and eat peanuts and you’ll be getting it. There have been countless studies on it since the 1980s and all of them lead to the conclusion that more resveratrol means better longevity with fewer age-related health troubles.
Among the studies, the polyphenols in resveratrol help protect blood vessel walls and keep them healthy, improve blood pressure, and are fully supportive of your cell’s normal and healthy replication. Yes, all good things!
So, more red wine then? Here’s how to get the benefits of resveratrol!
One of the best ways to get the anti-aging benefits inside and out from resveratrol is to simply increase your intake of the foods that have them. Snack on more purple grapes, raspberries, and peanuts. And yes, enjoy dark red wines.
However, to get the most benefits out of resveratrol for anti-aging from your skin to the rest of your organs, you’d need to get 100 to 250 milligrams each day. To put that in perspective, you’d need to drink almost 200 glasses of red wine each day. It might be your dream to achieve such a feat, but it’s not possible.
Sure, pour more red wine with dinner, but look into a resveratrol supplement. It’s important to read your labels though as there are “trans” and “cis” forms. The former, trans-resveratrol, is the one you’re looking for. You’ll do one even better if you look for trans-resveratrol with red wine polyphenols included.
When you take a resveratrol supplement, you can have the peace of mind of knowing you’re actively fighting off the signs of aging and keeping yourself healthy. It doesn’t hurt that it will keep your skin looking gloriously plump and youthful too. You can still drink your red wine and enjoy peanuts and red grapes to snack on for good measure.
While drinking all that wine does sound fun, it does include alcohol which is something that should be balanced anyway. Resveratrol supplements are free from alcohol which make them ideal for everyone, especially those that don’t drink.
Take care of your heart health and reduce oxidative stress. There’s too much going on in the world these days and you never can be too careful, so resveratrol it is, to your health!
