Every college student wants to have perfect skin, but unfortunately, it remains a dream for many. The worst thing about skin problems is that they place a heavy emotional and psychological burden on undergraduates that may be far worse than the physical impact.

Luckily, some common skin problems can be prevented.

If you use the following skincare tips, you will significantly improve your skin conditions.

Prevent stressful situations from happening for essential skincare

Multiple studies have proven that high stress levels are among the main causes of skin problems in students. The more stress you experience, the more your skin conditions worsen.

If you want to have better skin, you should find a way to reduce stress levels. Think about the situations that get you nervous. How can you prevent them? There must be a solution.

Let’s say your stress levels always rise the night before the term paper submission – you go mad trying to put your thoughts on paper. How can you avoid this unpleasant situation?

You can try to improve your time management skills and start working on your term assignment far in advance. Or, you can check the best sites for writing papers and get professional help online. Whatever solution you choose, it will help you to feel less stressed and improve your skin conditions.

Use natural beauty products for essential skincare

An effective skincare routine starts with using high-quality natural products. But the problem is that not every student sees the difference between cheap, mass-market products and natural products.

Since TV commercials and social media ads promise “a miracle effect from the first use,” undergraduates tend to buy advertised creams and lotions without reading the ingredients lists. Some of the mass-market products contain harsh chemicals which do more harm than good to the skin:

  • Sulfates
  • Parabens
  • Aluminum
  • Synthetic Fragrance
  • Mercury
  • Hydroquinone
  • Formaldehyde
  • Mineral Oil and Petrolatum

If you want to have beautiful, smooth skin, you should invest in high-quality skincare products like Earth & Elm Nourishing Face Oil. Such products are free from harsh chemicals, so they will greatly benefit your skin.

Never, ever skip face washing for essential skincare

Do you skip washing your face before bed sometimes? Probably you do it when you are studying for eight hours in a row and feel too exhausted to go to the bathroom and clean your face. Or, maybe it happens when you come back home at 5 a.m. after a college party.

Well, if you really want to have clean skin, you can’t skip face washing. No matter how tired you are, you should complete a quick cleansing procedure before falling asleep.

Face washing is just basic hygiene. If you skip the cleansing, dirt will build up on the skin. Pores will get clogged, and that will result in blackheads and breakouts.

You should do your best to prevent the problem rather than treat it. Then your college life will be so much better.

Overcome caffeine addiction for essential skincare

How many cups of coffee do you drink per day? If you are addicted to caffeine, it’s highly likely that your experience some skin problems.

Caffeine is a dehydrator. It means that the excess of coffee negatively affects your skin the same way as alcohol and sodium do. When your skin is dehydrated, it doesn’t look healthy.

Besides, some studies suggest that caffeine worsens acne. Since caffeine makes you feel alert and raises stress response in your body, stress hormones - cortisol in particular - may increase the amount of oil produced by your sebaceous glands causing prone breakouts.

What can you do to help your skin? Try to reduce coffee consumption or try to drink your coffee without milk and sugar – these two ingredients are also known as acne triggers.

Stay hydrated throughout the day for essential skincare

As we have already mentioned, dehydration is very harmful to your skin. So you should drink plenty of water every day.

Dermatologists recommend drinking eight glasses of plain water daily. However, you should understand that if you are a fan of intensive physical exercises, you should drink more to keep your skin happy. Also, you should remember that sugar-filled beverages, coffee, and tea do not count as “water.”

Set a rule to drink a glass of water once you wake up and bring a reusable water bottle wherever you go. It will help you remember to drink water throughout the day.

Exercise daily for essential skincare

Only healthy people have clean skin. To stay healthy, you should exercise daily. That will allow you to reduce stress levels and improve your blood circulation.

College life is busy. But you should find at least 30 minutes a day for physical exercise.

You can choose any activity you like: you can jog, ride a bicycle, swim, workout at the gym, etc. If you have no money to pay for a gym membership or buy a bike, consider practicing yoga at home.

All you need to invest in is a yoga mat. You can find free tutorials on YouTube and exercise in your room. Yoga is a great way to stay active and fight stress. It’s affordable for every college student.

Essential skincare habits

Your habits influence your skin conditions. So if you want to have better skin, you should change the way you live your college life.

You should drink more water, consume less coffee, exercise daily, and avoid stressful situations where it’s possible. Embrace these changes to become healthier, look better, and live happier.
