Lemon Myrtle Essential Oil: Another Name For Backhousia Citriodora

Trusted Health Products

There are so many great things about citrus-scented essential oils: not only are they incredibly pleasant to the senses, but they also pack a huge punch when it comes to health benefits and providing natural relief for certain conditions. Backhousia Citriodora, also known in health circles as Lemon Myrtle, is naturally antiseptic but can also be used to help build the immune system and ward off illnesses. Indigenous to the Australian coastal regions of New South Wales and Queensland, it can now be found in various parts of the world such as Europe, South Africa and United States. The name Backhousia Cirtiodora is Latin and thus is used less often than what it's commonly referred to - Lemon Myrtle.

This essential oil is known to have powerful antiviral qualities that can eliminate disease-carrying microorganisms. This helps to amp up your immune system and prevent you from becoming ill too often. For those who have compromised immune systems, they find that they often struggle with chronic health issues, whether it be the common cold, allergies, specific skin conditions or something much more serious. This essential oil is high in magnesium, calcium, and zinc, which are all key components for keeping the internal system strong and functioning on a high level.

Lemon Myrtle is a great essential oil to use as a skin treatment for skin conditions that can lead to rough, patchy, or sore skin. During a study that was conducted in 2004, children who had a skin condition called molluscum collusion were given the oil to coat and treat their skin legions. After a four-week period of time, 60% of the patients experienced over 90% of a decrease in the number of lesions that they had. It is also great to use on psoriasis, eczema and dandruff.

Skin Care Routine

A fantastic oil to incorporate into your skin care routine, Lemon Myrtle oil is tough on bacteria and will potentially keep acne away and ward off the pesky blemishes that may already be on your face. Try adding some Lemon Myrtle oil to your everyday face wash to see your skin start to clear up. The great thing about this oil is that it's incredibly gentle, pleasant smelling and effective. Its one of the best oils to use if you suffer from terribly oily or acne prone skin. You'll start to see a noticeable shift in your skin after a week or so.

This oil is also known to have amazing benefits for those who deal with depression and lack of concentration. Adding a couple of drops of Lemon Myrtle oil to a humidifier or an oil lamp will instantly change the atmosphere in any room just based on smell alone. This oil has terrific calming, uplifting and relaxing qualities attributed to its scent. If you deal with constant mood disturbances or could just use a pick me up during the day or into the night, this is a perfect oil to add to your collection!
