Rosehip Seed Oil For A Rosy Complexion
Rosehip seed oil: this tongue-twister adds its own special twist to skin care that is unparalleled compared to other oils. Pressed from the seeds of the wild South American rosebush, its been used by Chileans and indigenous people of the Andes Mountains for centuries. No longer a South American secret, today rosehip seeds are harvested and the oil processed in South Africa and Europe.
What you may ask is its special twist? It contains two potent essential fatty acids.
Linolenic Acid
Linolenic acid, also known as Omega 3, fights inflammation. And gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), which is also called Omega 6, is a type of polyunsaturated fatty acid that promotes both skin and bone development, as well as hair growth.
Perhaps because these essential fatty acids are useful in moderating the effects of diabetes, allergies, rheumatoid arthritis, and other autoimmune conditions, their impact on the health of our skin may be considered a natural offshoot of these other restorative properties.
Often compared to retinol or vitamin A1, rosehip seed oil doesn't actually contain any retinol. However its a rich source of beta-carotene, a powerful antioxidant which fights free-radicals that cause sun damage and ages weather-beaten skin.
Anti-aging properties
Rosehip seed oil is rich in anti-aging properties. Its amazing fatty acids promote skin regeneration which removes and heals unsightly scar tissue. It can reverse the cell damage from psoriasis and eczema by adding and sealing moisture; and improving the firmness, flexibility, and elasticity of even the most severely damaged skin.
From brittle nails to dry rough hands; from stretch marks to uneven skin pigment; from age spots to wrinkles - rosehip seed oil combats them all! That's a ton of healing power in a tiny seed!
But like any other life-giving resource, rosehip seed oil is not a one size fits all panacea. Your age, weight, overall health, and skin condition are factors to be considered before forging ahead. Consult your dermatologist first. Then with her blessing, apply to thoroughly cleaned skin by massaging gently until absorbed. After opening, refrigerate it to maintain freshness.
