Get Rid Of Ashy Elbows And Reveal Smoother Skin
The elbows can be a tough area to tame. Even when the rest of your skin is smooth, moisturized, and bouncy, those elbows can throw a wrench in your plans. Known as ashy elbows, they can happen to anyone. For some, it’s caused by a skin condition but for the vast majority, it’s caused by external factors.
Why Might I Have Ashy Elbows?
There are a few reasons that you could have ashy elbows. For one, it could be genetics. Some people are just more prone to dry skin than others, even if they take the best care of their skin. The environment is another cause. Cooler, drier weather can drain all the moisture out of your skin. Other causes could be that you simply space out and forget to slather your elbows when you’re hydrating your skin.
If you’ve ruled out a medical condition, then you may want to know how to get rid of ashy elbows and make your skin look its best. Here are some changes you should make to improve your skin and say goodbye to ashy elbows!
Change The Way You Shower
Do you spend too much time in the shower and then skip moisturizing? If so, you may be inadvertently causing your ashy elbows. Using water that is too hot will also do the damage as too will the kind of cleanser you use. Choose something without alcohol, something that contains added moisturizer.
Moisturize Immediately After Showering
As soon as you dab yourself off with your towel upon exiting the shower, slather on your moisturizer. Use one that has natural ingredients known for soothing like coconut oil for example.
Use A Humidifier
Sometimes when the weather is really dry or your heating or air-conditioning are sucking all the moisture out of the air, it can leave you with dry, ashy elbows. If you use a humidifier, you’ll fill the air back up with moisture which will help replenish your skin.
Watch The Weather
Skincare needs to change with the seasons to be most effective. Too much sun can dry out your elbows. Counter the change with enough sunscreen and protective clothing in the summer while in the winter, make sure to add plentiful moisturizer every day.
Basically, it boils down to more hydration and adjusting to the changing seasons. It also helps if you make sure you’re eating well and drinking enough water. Even when we take the best care of our skin, it won’t last if we’re not nourishing it from the inside out. Take steps to keep your elbows hydrated and you’ll soon see those ashy elbows disappear!
