Black Pepper Essential Oil And Its Many Uses
Otherwise known as piper nigrum, the steam distilled process that peppercorn goes through yields a pungent and capable oil that can be used for different issues. Virtually everyone is familiar with black pepper and many don't eat dishes without it, especially those who enjoy a little spice.
But so few people are aware that there is an oil made from that spice that can positively impact the body in a variety of ways. This oil has some primary benefits tied to digestion, healthy circulation, and is an incredible source of antioxidants. Here's some other specific ways that the oil can be used.
Soothes Joints And Muscles
If you are prone to dealing with joint pain and stiffness this is a great oil to have in your arsenal. It's also known to be a great way to provide warmth to the body and the limbs during the very cold and rigid winter months.
You'll need to mix a few drops of the black pepper oil into a carrier oil - something like coconut oil works wonderfully - and massage the mixture into the joints and muscles that give you trouble. You can use it all over the body to produce warmth in those months where you sometimes just can't seem to shake the chill.
Soothes Anxiety
While pepper makes us sneeze when it gets in our nose, the fumes of it in oil form are highly soothing and can be used to help those who suffer from anxiety and nervousness. If you find it increasingly difficult to deal with the day to day stressors and you often feel on edge or paralyzed by worry, this can definitely take a bit of the edge off.
Just a few drops in a humidifier or a diffuser will fill the room with the peppery fragrance that will seep through your nasal canal and travel up to your brain. You'll start to calm down within a matter of 15 to 20 minutes.
Stimulates Digestion
This oil is great for those who have issues with digestion. Whether it's from an intestinal issue, auto-immune condition or a poor diet, digestive problems can be a very frustrating thing to deal with. It can completely mess with your comfort level and your quality of life, especially if it is a chronic issue.
Just a couple of drops put on the tongue can help promote the proper secretion of the digestive juices that sometimes have issues making their way through the intestines.
Muscle Strains
Many athletes, and even those who are interested in becoming more physically active, should keep a bit of this oil on hand. A pulled muscle or a strain is incredibly common when you are putting your body under a certain level of stress and physical activity.
This oil is perfect to rub into muscles that have been pulled or strained. It is superb for spasms and cramps that take place in the muscles. A few drops mixed with a carrier oil is the ideal form of use. Use the oil to massage the muscle twice a day and notice how the discomfort will start to lessen and eventually heal completely.
