5 Easy And Simple Steps To Maintain Beautiful Skin
As everybody knows, we encounter all sorts of pollutants every time we step out of the house, and failing to shield the skin or cleanse it afterward, can lead to serious damage over time. Not all women have time for a med spa, but we do what we can to put up with bad weather, UV rays, dust, smoke, and harsh chemicals. However, without a proper plan to maintain the skin’s optimal condition, you’re likely to experience premature aging.
Cleanse Gently
Regular soap contains a pH that’s different from that of the skin, and it also leaves the skin dry – which means it’s not the best thing to clean the face with. But you can get a face wash to match your skin type. Here’s how to do a proper cleansing:
- Start by removing your makeup; this could be aided by coconut oil and cotton or a soft cloth.
- Use warm water, and make sure the hands are clean.
- Take a decent amount of face wash in your hands and massage the face with your fingers for a couple of minutes. Avoid getting the liquid in your eyes.
- When finished, clean with cold water so the pores aren’t left open.
- Pat with soft, dry towel, and apply a good moisturizer.
Exfoliate At Least Once Or Twice A Week
Purchase an exfoliation scrub – preferably one with salt, sugar, or a different natural exfoliate. Alternatively, you can purchase a natural bristled brush and use in the shower. Allow warm water to run over your body for a few minutes and then use the exfoliating scrub, making gentle, circular motions.
To exfoliate the face, take a small bowl or cup, and mix two spoonfuls of brown sugar with lemon juice and olive oil – use enough to make a paste. Apply the paste to your face and massage gently in small circular motions. Do this for five minutes and rinse with warm water. The lemon juice will dry your face if not followed up with a good moisturizer. Also, avoid getting the mixture into your eyes, as this will cause serious irritation.
Re-Balance Skin With Toner
Toners are great for rebalancing pH levels of your skin and they can be spritzed on to make application easier, though some products are applied with a cotton pad. Avoid using alcohol-based toners because they dehydrate the skin or cause irritation. So what does toner do for your skin?
- Removes impurities and excess oil
- Fights acne
- Hydrates skin
- Soothes irritated skin
- Provides healing compounds
- Improves absorption of moisturizers and serums
Treat Skin With Serums
The best serums are chock full of moisture and ingredients the skin needs to stay soft and youthful. Try to get products with aloe vera and/or chamomile to soothe irritation and enhance complexion. Serums can also boost collagen levels and improve your skin’s ability to self-heal. Don’t forget to use regular face creams and lotions for added moisture and to create a strong barrier that seals all the healthy ingredients in.
Hydrate Your Body By Drinking Water
One of the reasons why it’s so important to hydrate is that your skin relies on water to flush out toxins; and this is what keeps your skin glowing and prevents infections such as acne. Drinking water also helps to balance natural oils and keep the skin tone even. Failure to hydrate will only lead to dry skin, irritation, infections, and premature aging.
Effective skin care requires a daily regimen that involves protecting yourself from dust, smoke, and other pollutants, but also removing them before they get permanently lodged in the skin. Do this every day to keep your skin young through the years.
