A miswak stick is used for cleaning the teeth and mouth naturally and easily. It is affordable, easy to use and has many medicinal and oral health benefits. Taken from a Salvadora persica tree, they are used much as a toothbrush is and are very affordable. They are also widely available in the areas of Africa, Asia, and Arabian peninsula.

They are also antibacterial and benefit the hindrance of bacteria growth, slow decay, and improve the breath and keep gums healthy and strong.

Antibacterial and antimicrobial properties of the miswak stick

This stick is cut from the tree branches or root, and the end creates a bristle effect similar to a toothbrush. They are used in many situations, both for hygiene and religious reasons, in the morning and evening, often before entering a home, and at other religiously important moments throughout the day.

The consistency of use and increased number of times a day it is used may be a part of its effectiveness, along with the antibacterial and antimicrobial properties. These properties help to keep the mouth free of bacteria buildup and infections while the brush area removes buildup and reduces cavities and decay.

Prevent decay with miswak stick

Not only will a miswak stick prevent future decay, but it will stop decay that is already occurring and perhaps even reverse decay that has already happened. It does this by removing the bacteria that cause decay, along with any plaque or tartar buildup to encourage growth of new bacteria. It can also help strengthen the gums by providing nutrients that can strengthen the oral health of the user.

In situations where it is used as a religious tool it helps to keep the mouth and therefore the body clean. It can also be used in general hygiene purposes for many, which aligns with religious needs to keep the mind and body clean.

It is used more frequently throughout the day than a toothbrush in many cultures as there are many moments throughout the day that it is recommended. This includes upon waking and before going to sleep, before entering the own home, when you become hungry or thirsty, and before any religious activity.

Limit infections with miswak stick

Studies have shown that the miswak does slow the formation of decay among teeth and helps maintain strong gums, encouraging the teeth to be healthy. It is antimicrobial to limit infections and to remove bacteria from the mouth and teeth, which decreases infections, cavities, dental decay, weaking enamel, and other health concerns.

Taking care of a miswak stick

It should never be allowed to dry out completely and should be stored away from the sink or toilet, preferably in a plastic sealed container. It can be dampened when it becomes dry but should only be cut new for use by one person.

The miswak stick is cut from a tree, either the branches or the root. It holds antimicrobial properties that help to keep the mouth clean, the teeth free of bacteria and buildup, and prevents and halts tooth decay while keeping gums healthy and strong.
