What To Do When Your Hair Falls Out

One of the scariest things to deal with is losing your hair, whether it's all over or just in patches. It can be a very emotional experience, especially if the hair loss is a factor of a much larger issue. This article can help give you an idea of what to do when you find your hair beginning to fall out.

Get Regular Trims

If your hair has become damaged and is prone to breaking, you can get it trimmed regularly while it recovers. Trimming your hair will not only boost your confidence but also improve the texture of your hair.

Trims help in removing dead strands or split ends that could travel upwards and damage the scalp. The rest of your hair will also have the chance to breathe properly. Trimming your hair also helps in adding volume and bounce so you look and feel better. When your hair starts falling out or you feel like it's thinning out, get yourself a good trim.

Wear Wigs and Hair Pieces

Another option is to wear wigs, hats, scarves, or bandannas. Even if you feel hotter wearing one, it can feel more comfortable than having your hair on display for passersby. If you feel a bandana or scarf might be a little too obvious of what’s going on to the people around you, you can opt for a hat or even a wig, or at the very least extensions.

Because there’s always the danger of wearing a wig that’s obviously a wig to the people around you, you want to invest in hair pieces that are made with high quality materials. Human hair or synthetic human hair are known for being the most convincing.

You also want a wig that looks like your natural hair, or something that your hair could look like. This may mean you end up ordering custom made wigs, but it’ll be worth it in the end when your confidence is soaring.

Wash Your Hair Less

Just like with skincare, too much washing can dry out and damage your scalp and hair. Refrain from washing your hair every other day. In case you have been treating your hair with harsh chemicals, it is best to wash them every three to four days or less if needed.

Switching shampoos can also help in strengthening your hair. This will also prevent further damage and eventually stop the loss of hair and excessive dryness and frizz.

Eat Healthy and Properly

Your diet plays a major role in keeping your hair healthy and stopping excessive hair fall. Eat foods with high protein and iron content and try avoiding too much fried food, salt, caffeine, alcohol, and sugar. Include lots of fruits, vegetables, and omega-3 fatty acids in your daily diet to support the growth of healthy hair.

Do not make any dietary change other than adding more protein to your diet. The last thing you should do is a crash diet or adding supplements unless recommended by a doctor.

Along with these tips, it’s still best to see a doctor to understand why your hair is falling out. While the professionals take care of the medical side of things you can do what you can to help your body and your self-esteem.

Eating a balanced diet, getting regular trims, and wearing protective headwear can do wonders for your excessive hair loss problem, whether it’s hiding it or doing what’s possible to actively fix it.
