Little Known Uses Of Coconut Oil

Sun, Oct 21, 18 . Admin Editor

Arguably one of the most popular oils, which is also well known for its multifaceted nature, is coconut oil. Many people love to cook with it, use it for their skin and hair or even incorporate it into their oral care routine. But what some don't know about this oil is that it can be used in a myriad of ways.

Coconut oil has gained popularity in recent years as an oil that can be used both internally and externally. Here are some of the unknown ways that the oil can be used.

Energy Booster

There are two different types of energies that the body utilizes, energy from sugar and energy from fat. Many are under the impression that fat is bad for the body. This couldn't be further from the truth. The brain is made mostly of fat cells.

Healthy fats promote cravings and help fuel the body properly while sugar can often lead to energy peaks and crashes. Coconut oil is a great mid-afternoon pick me up that will help to boost your energy with natural, healthy fats. Mix a tablespoon with some chia seeds for some instant fat and daily fiber.

Treat Sore Throat

Coconut oil can be used as a natural way to combat those pesky sore throats that can sometimes leave you feeling miserable and uneasy. Whether you are a chronic cold or allergy sufferer, or you only have to battle with the uncomfortable sore throat every once in awhile, coconut oil can be your anecdote.

Try swallowing a teaspoon of coconut oil up to three times daily. You can gargle with a bit more coconut oil to help coat the throat before swallowing, if the first method isn't effective. Coconut oil is a natural throat soother and can also effectively help to increase your immunity.

Sensitive Areas

This may not come as a surprise for those who use coconut oil for their skin but it is highly safe and even has healing properties when applied to the skin. For this very reason, it's also great for sensitive areas while also being antibacterial and antimicrobial.

Insect Repellent

While there is plenty of insect repellent on the market, many of them contain chemicals that are actually harmful for you to inhale or come into contact with. This is why natural options are the best. Many insects hate the smell and consistency of most essential oils, even when they are fully absorbed.

Adding a couple of drops of peppermint oil or rosemary oil to your coconut oil makes for a great mixture that will repel all types of insects such as gnats, mosquitoes, flies, and bees. Apply the mixture to your skin before going outside. You can also fill a spray bottle with the liquified version and spray around your house to keep critters out.
