Everything Your Health Needs To Prepare For Colder Weather

Colder weather can really do a number on the human body so it makes sense that before that first cold front of the year hits, you would want to make sure you prepare for it. Maintaining your health through the winter can be seen as making purposeful choices to support your immune system. To do that, you can invest in products and items that can support your physical and mental health.
Essential Oils
Essential oils can help support your mental and physical health according to many users. Some people are so motivated by the potential uses they create entire companies around them like D Gary Young.
To physically prepare for the winter, look into using lemon essential oils which have anti-inflammatory as well as anti-bacterial properties. This means you can make a natural disinfectant spray to use around your house to minimize the risk of infections during the winter which coincides with flu season. You can mix the lemon with cinnamon bark essential oil which is both antibacterial and antiseptic.
To directly support different vulnerable functions of the body, try eucalyptus oil or tea tree oil. Both oils are known to help maintain a healthy respiratory system because they have expectorant as well as decongestant abilities. If you are looking to add to your antioxidants which are known to support your health, clove oil is known to be an extremely potent antioxidant and also happens to smell amazing.
Stress can reduce the effectiveness of your immune system so making sure you keep your stress levels low can, in turn, support your health. Lavender and ylang ylang oils are known to be great to help calm and cultivate a stress-free demeanor. Peppermint can also declutter the mind and help stay energized and focused.
Hot Teas
Hot teas are known to help both to prevent illness as well as to help fight illness if your immune system does falter. Green tea is an excellent source of antioxidants because of its high catechin content. This antioxidant can fight oxidative stress that can potentially leave the body vulnerable to infection.
Ginger tea is also very high in antioxidants and has even been linked to eradicating the common cold viruses. It is also very soothing and a little spicy.
Elderberry tea is a powerhouse containing antioxidants, vitamin C, and zinc. These are all ingredients that can help support the immune system and fight potential infections. Elderberry is often paired with echinacea which has been shown to reduce your risk of getting a cold by 58 percent. It can also shorten the duration of your cold, similar to elderberry.
A Balanced Diet
Prioritizing a healthy and balanced diet is one of the best ways to prepare for cold weather. A balanced diet can boost your body's immune system, keep your stress levels low, and support healthy gut function. The core of a healthy diet is choosing lean proteins, minimally processed fruit and vegetables, and whole-wheat products.
Making sure that you are eating between 2,000 and 2,600 calories a day, depending on your body, will give your body enough energy to function properly and fight off any potential infections.
You should also keep your body well hydrated because this keeps your body at peak performance. On average, men should be drinking 13 cups of water a day and women should be drinking nine cups of water a day. But remember that if you exercise, that number goes up.
Warm Clothes
Warm clothes can help shield your body from the harsh weather conditions that come with colder weather. As much as you can support the health of your body by choosing wisely what you are consuming, warm clothes help you protect yourself from cold weather that can cause your body to not work as effectively as normal.
Investing in a nice, insulated jacket can physically support the inner workings of your immune system by not putting too much stress on it.
While you may not be able to avoid colder weather, you do have options on how best to protect your health.
