3 Air Purifier Benefits
Written By Kassandra Foreman / Reviewed By Ray Spotts
Air purifiers are used around the world to control allergens and remove pollutants from the air. They are available in a wide range of sizes and work for different spaces to keep the air healthy for breathing year round. Especially helpful for children, those who suffer from asthma, elderly people and those with breathing concerns, an air purifier can remove pollutants from the air before they can be seen.
Removing allergens
Dust and other small particles are present in the air both indoors and out. They are often not visible to the naked eye, but they are felt within the respiratory system and can affect comfortable breathing for millions of allergy sufferers. These allergens can include dead skin cells that have been shed from people and animals, car exhaust and other emissions, pet hair and dander, and pollen particles from plants and flowers.
Each of these add to the pollution and buildup in the air both outside and within homes. An air purifier will pull the air into the unit, filter it through the filters, and release the clean air from the other side of the unit. This provides allergen-free air to the space; the better the filter the cleaner the air will be.
Reducing unpleasant smells
In addition to removing allergens and asthma triggers, an air purifier can reduce unpleasant smells from the air and absorb them. An activated charcoal filter will absorb the most scents and can remove cooking odors, pet smells, and cigarette smoke. Removing any smoke from the air with a purifier can reduce the discoloration that forms on walls and furniture of people who smoke.
Absorbing mold spores
When rooms or spaces become damp, often in the spring during the rainy seasons, there is an increased risk of mold occurring. This can be dangerous for the health of anyone in the home or area, and should be treated seriously.
When using an air purifier it can absorb many of the mold spores and help clear the air around it. An air purifier with a UV light can also kill the bacteria that cause mold and the mold spores themselves, leaving the air safe to breath and protecting the health of all those in the room.
By removing any allergy triggers, mold spores, pollen, and other health risks from the air, the space remains healthy and safe. A good air purifier can remove the smells from cooking, smoking, outdoor campfires and more, while also reducing the dust and pollen that is found in the air.
