Some people find it challenging to get and stay active. One of the most common reasons for this is a lack of energy. If you want to get an extra energy boost to help supercharge your workout, taking a pre-workout supplement is recommended.

However, when you start looking for pre-workout supplements, you’ll find more than a few options, each one containing different ingredients and promising different results. While this can be confusing, some supplements are better than others when it comes to energizing your workout. Keep reading to learn what these are.

Creatine

Creatine occurs naturally in your cells. However, it’s also a popular supplement. Many people take micronized creatine to help increase power and strength. Research has also proven that it can be used to increase exercise performance, strength, and muscle mass.

Some studies have shown that the strength gains from a weight training program that includes a creatine supplement are five to 10 percent higher than those who don’t take it but follow the same routine. One reason for this is that creatine is a crucial part of the energy production systems in your body’s cells.

If you have more energy in your cells while exercising, you can perform better and see more gains. If your goal is to increase muscular strength, then creatine should be a supplement you take each day. Most experts recommend that you start with around 20 grams per day, split into several servings.

Caffeine

Another natural molecule, caffeine, is found in tea, coffee, and other beverages and foods. It helps to stimulate certain parts of the brain, which increases alertness while helping you feel less tired. It’s also a popular ingredient for pre-workout supplements.

Taking caffeine will help improve several different aspects of exercise performance. It can help to increase the power output or your ability to produce force quickly. This is beneficial in several types of exercises, including cycling, weight training, and sprinting.

Some studies have proven that taking a caffeine supplement can improve your performance during endurance or long-duration events, such as cycling and running, and be equally beneficial for intermittent activities, such as soccer.

It’s worth noting that if you do take a caffeine supplement, it can result in short-term increases in your blood pressure, which can increase restlessness. However, it doesn’t usually cause an irregular heartbeat.

Beta-Alanine

To fight muscle fatigue, beta-alanine is recommended. This amino acid can combat acid as it begins to build up inside your body. When you take this as a supplement, it will increase its concentration in your body, which can help improve your exercise performance.

It can also help improve performance during more intense exercise that is done in one to four-minute increments. While this is true, it may not be effective for improving exercises that last under a minute, like one set while weight training.

Citrulline

This is an amino acid that is naturally produced in the body. If you consume citrulline in foods or supplements, it can help to increase exercise performance. One of the main effects of citrulline is that it increases blood flow to the tissues in your body.

When it comes to exercise, this may be beneficial because it helps to supply the muscles you are exercising with nutrients and oxygen, which are needed for optimal performance.

There’s a study that has proven cyclists biked approximately 12 percent longer before becoming exhausted by taking citrulline, which means it can be effective for long-duration workouts in some cases.

Adding the Right Supplements to Your Routine

If you want to improve your exercise performance and the results that you achieve, adding the right supplements to your daily routine is recommended by experts. Doing this will help ensure that you can perform at top levels at all times.

This will also help you see more gains faster than exercising and working out without the supplements mentioned here. Keep this in mind as you try to improve your workout performance
