First-Aid Remedies For Natural Healers

Fans of natural remedies know that sometimes opting for the more organic solutions can require a bit more time and patience. But what does this mean for more serious injuries that require quick attention? Luckily, there are some lesser-known natural treatments out there for some of the worst symptoms. Here are some great ingredients for any natural first-aid kit. 

Tea-Tree Oil For Disinfecting

As far as essential oils go, tea-tree oil is an extremely powerful and useful one. Its a powerful disinfectant, killing various forms of fungi, bacteria, and viruses. Many use it for household cleaning, but with proper dilution you can also use it to clean surface abrasions on the skin. Mix it with another oil of choice, and swab it over cuts to clean and heal them. 

Licorice Tea For Compacted Bowls

This is great to have on hand when camping or backpacking for long periods of time. Licorice acts as a natural laxative, and licorice tea or root (or organic licorice candy) is very useful for extreme cases of constipation. Licorice tea is also great for soothing sore throats, better than any medicines or chemicals in a pinch. But in emergency situations, licorice is your best natural bet for getting the digestive system back on track. 

Arnica For Swelling

When used as a topical treatment, arnica effectively brings down swelling by stimulating fluid movement around the area, flushing out water and other liquids contributing to the puffiness. It also promotes healing through its ability to stimulate white blood cell movement as well. Because of this, arnica helps get rid of bruising quicker too. 

Clove Oil For Numbing
Clove oil is not a natural remedy to be underestimated. It acts as an effective pain killer when applied topically to certain areas. Many dentists use it for minor dental surgeries when the patient has a Novocain allergy, so naturally its a great addition for your first-aid kit. It can be quite harsh on the skin, though, so dilute it with another essential oil before applying. This is great for any injuries that only need time to heal, but are bothersome in the meantime. 

Goldenseal For Open Wounds

Open wounds are tricky to treat with natural ingredients, but chemicals are generally very painful upon application. Goldenseal is a great organic and pain-free solution to clean and promote healing for certain wounds. You can buy it in capsules at any local health food store. Open a capsule and sprinkle the powder into the wound, then bandage it up and let it sit. It will help keep the wound disinfected, and speed the healing process up significantly. It can even be applied to older scars as well to make some difference in its visibility.

The natural remedies trend is definitely a great one for both our health and the environment. However, first-aid should be treated with caution, and you should be able to recognize the seriousness of an injury. If it comes to the worse, know that a walk-in clinic is willing to treat you or your loved ones efficiently and in any way you request. In dire times, its best to leave your health and your life in the hands of a professional.
