Tips For Making Your Skin Healthy This Summer

With summer approaching, you are probably mostly concerned with your bikini body, but you should also take into account the importance of skin care. When you were young, your skin regularly regenerated collagen, the protein that helps with skin hydration and elasticity. As you age, your body produces less collagen, which means you need to manage your skin care. Here are some tips for keeping your skin healthy this summer.

Hydration

Healthy skin is not only a topical battle; it also includes drinking enough water, as water helps to remove toxins from the body. Staying hydrated boosts skin's elasticity, which delays the appearance of wrinkles. It also diminishes facial puffiness and dry, flaky skin

Several spices and herbs are known to aid in skin hydration. Adding lemon slices to water cleans the liver, which results in brighter skin. Cinnamon and the combination of raw honey and apple cider vinegar help to get rid of acne and prevent future breakouts. Adding basil leaves or ginger to water conquers inflammation.

If you’re not sure about combining ginger and water, you can add it to a cup of tea, instead. Not only is it good for your skin, it is one of many drinks to help you sleep. A good night's rest is beneficial because it reduces the appearance of dark, puffy circles under your eyes.

Vitamin C

Whether you are ingesting it or applying a face serum, vitamin C is crucial in regenerating collagen. It also contains antioxidants, which keep your skin cells healthy. Including foods in your diet that are high in vitamin C such as oranges, leafy greens and red peppers ward off fine lines and wrinkles.

A topical serum not only helps with smoother, plumper skin, its acidic properties can help the skin to heal faster and prevent dark spots and skin discoloration.

Exfoliation

Removing dead skin cells helps to kick your skin's collagen renewal into high gear, and it leaves your skin feeling softer. Your body sheds dead skin cells monthly, but if some of them don't shed, you will be left with dry, flaky skin. This is why exfoliating is necessary. It increases blood flow, which leaves your skin glowing and helps to maintain its elasticity.

A bonus of exfoliating is that it can increase the effectiveness of your other skincare regimens as you will be treating new cells rather than dead cells. You should gently exfoliate two times per week, so you don't remove your skin's natural oils.

Moisturizing

To ensure that your skin is as soft as it can be, you’ll need to apply a daily moisturizer not only to your face, but also to your entire body. You may need specific moisturizers to overcome ailments such dry skin, eczema, acne and age spots. Depending on the issue you’re trying to alleviate, you’ll want to look for products that contain coconut oil, aloe vera, shea butter or lactic acid.

Habits

If you don't have a skincare routine, you need to get one. By following a plan, you can ensure that your skin stays healthy. The first thing you should always do is wear sunscreen! The sun's rays can cause premature wrinkles, dry skin, sunburn or even skin cancer.

The temporary thrill you get from a tan is not worth the injury to your skin. It's a good idea to apply sunscreen if you're going to be in the sun for any length of time, especially to the sensitive skin on your face.

Another important habit is to wear protective gear when your skin is in contact with chemicals or intense wind or cold. Shielding your skin from harsh elements is an easy way to keep it looking young and healthy.

You are stuck with your body and your skin for the long run, so you might as well take care of them. As you get older, you may have to add different moisturizers to aid with age-induced skin conditions. Seeing the benefits of skin maintenance will persuade you to keep up with your routine. Proper skin care will guarantee it is summer ready year after year.
