If you have heard about the keto diet, you may think that it is just a fad and does not work. That could not be further from the truth. Many people have had great success with the keto diet. They have lost weight and been able to get healthy with this simple diet. If you are interested in doing the keto diet, there are several things that you will want to know about it.

Keto Is More Than Just A Diet

Keto is a way of eating and not just a diet. This is because you cannot go off and on keto as you do with other diets. If you do that, it will mess up your metabolism and cause you to gain more weight. Keto will need to be a permanent lifestyle change for it to work well.

The Keto Diet Requires Time

You have probably seen some success stories out there with people saying that the weight just starts to melt off immediately. When you start the keto diet, that may happen to you, or you may lose weight slow and steadily. For some people, the keto diet will require time to get to your goal weight. Just be patient and stick with the diet, and you will see the weight come off easily.

Keto Can Be Customized

Keto can be customized depending on your individual needs. Typically, it is 75 percent fat, 20 percent protein, and five percent carbohydrates. The carbs can vary from 20 to 50 grams, and it will all depend on how your body processes carbs. You will have to find what sends you into ketosis and what works best for you.

You May Feel Sick And Have A Few Side Effects

The keto flu is a totally normal aspect of this diet when you first start it. This is because your body is switching from carb burning to fat burning and can cause you to run low on energy. Some people also experience dehydration, so it is important to make sure that you stay hydrated.

Some people also will have bad breath when they first start the keto diet. This is because of excess protein consumption and ketones. It should be reduced as you start to get used to the diet. You can also reduce your protein which will help to improve bad breath.

When you switch to a high-fat diet like keto, you may notice some gastrointestinal issues. Diarrhea and constipation are both common. You may also experience gas until you get used to the diet.

Keto Can Treat Medical Conditions

The keto diet can treat some medical conditions like diabetes, seizure disorders, and cancer. If you have a medical condition, you can speak with your doctor about whether keto can help you.

Keto Does Not Have To Be Expensive

One common misconception of the keto diet is that it is expensive. It does not have to be. While it is true that you will have to purchase fresh vegetables, cheese, and meat, you will find that your grocery bill will go down because you are not purchasing carbs that are expensive.

You can also do things like a keto meal plan for weight loss, and that will help you to plan out your meals which can help you to save money on your grocery bill each month. You can also look up recipes online for various meals and make them beforehand. You can find things on sale at your local grocery store.

Also, consider shopping at your local farmer’s market for fresh vegetables as you will find that they are cheaper and organic.

Getting Support

If you plan on going on the keto diet, one thing that you should do is find someone that wants to go on the diet with you or join a support group online. This will help you to have somewhere where you can get your questions answered and help find support when you need it. The more support you have with your diet, the better outcome that you will have.

If you need to lose weight, you should consider the keto diet. This diet has helped many people all over the world lose weight and get healthy. Swap out all your bad carbs for healthy things like vegetables, cheeses, and meats today.
