Anti-Aging From The Inside Out: Using B Vitamins To Rejuvenate Skin

Everyone is eager to put their best face forward. There are numerous products on the market; some work better than others to help rejuvenate our skin and prevent premature aging. To make these products even more effective, we should also address our diet. 

By eating plenty of nutrient-rich foods, we can greatly enhance the appearance of our skin. For example, vitamin B can transform a lackluster complexion into a radiant glow.

Understanding Vitamin B

Vitamin B is actually a complex nutrient with many different contributing elements. Each different aspect of the vitamin brings its own unique contributions to the body.

Vitamin B1, known as Thiamine

Vitamin B2, known as Riboflavin

Vitamin B3, known as Niacin

Vitamin B5, known as Pantothenic Acid

Vitamin B6, known as Pyridoxine

Vitamin B7, known as Biotin

Vitamin B8, known as Inositol

Vitamin B9, known as Folic Acid

Vitamin B12, known as Cobalamin

If you do not consume enough vitamin B, you will become vitamin deficient, which will lead to the decline of your overall health. This vitamin is an essential nutrient involved in many of the bodys most important functions. For example, vitamin B helps:

Develop red blood cells

Reduce the risk of cancer

Maintain the nervous system

Fight against the effects of stress

Encourage a healthy metabolism

Enhance the quality of the skin

This last role of vitamin B to enhance the quality of the skin is, perhaps, the most obvious. The nutrient contributes to the healthy function of many organ systems. But none of these unseen functions are as obvious as problems with the skin. 

Using Vitamin B To Enhance The Skin

A vitamin B deficiency can cause sensitivity to sunlight, cracked lips, dryness, acne, wrinkles, rashes, and uneven complexion. By simply eradicating a vitamin B deficiency whether through the diet or supplementation you can greatly reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Youll also be able to heal a damaged complexion and improve the texture and balance of the skin. Additionally, vitamin B helps your skin retain moisture.

You may think it is unlikely to have a vitamin deficiency. After all, you eat plenty of food you never go hungry. But are you eating the right food? Are you subjecting your body and skin to junk food, candy, soda, fast food, and prepackaged meals? If so, it is very easy to become nutrient deficient.

Here are some simple suggestions on how to enhance your diet and supplement your vitamin needs. 

Focus on Vitamin B6 and Vitamin B12: These two components are most often linked to skin rejuvenation. Try to add more of the following food items to your diet: cauliflower, mustard greens, spinach, garlic, fish, poultry, beef, lamb, pork, eggs and milk. 

Eat More Over-Easy Eggs: Not only should you be eating more vitamin B12-rich eggs, you should be eating them with a soft yolk. The egg yolk contains choline, a member of the B complex. This nutrient is more easily absorbed when the egg yolk is lightly cooked. In addition to helping rejuvenate the complexion, choline also helps boost brain cell formation and improve memory. 

Add Probiotics: Fermented foods and drinks are full of beneficial microflora, which naturally creates vitamin B - specifically vitamin B12 - inside your body. By creating the nutrient inside your body, it will assimilate more quickly and encourage maximum absorption. 

Add a Supplement: All B vitamins are water-soluble, so it is extremely difficult to overdose. Therefore, you never have to worry about having too much. You can either supplement with a multi-vitamin or look for individual nutrients. Many people choose to bolster the levels of just a few essential nutrients. For example, vitamin B12 is only found in animal products. A vegan might get plenty of other B vitamins from a vegetable-heavy diet. However, he or she would need vitamin B12 injections to meet that particular nutrient requirement.
