You may have heard some chatter about the miracles of celery juice. There are popular books, blogs, and social media groups that speak of celery juice like it is one of the top cure-alls for many health issues, including clearing up acne and blemished skin. Here is some insight into this claim, how celery juice can benefit your skin, and how to make it.

Benefits of Drinking Celery Juice

There is a lot of information about the benefits of celery juice for all types of issues. Some of these claims are facts while some might be more hype.

Most of the facts about the benefits of celery juice come from its nutritional content. Some of the hype involves unscientific claims that might just be too good to be true. Despite this divide, celery juice does hold real benefits for your body and your skin!

Skin Benefits from Celery Juice

Here are three of the biggest benefits for skin health from celery juice. No hard to believe miracles here. Just dense amounts of the right nutrients to help clear up your skin.

Reduced Inflammation

One of the biggest benefits of celery juice is its ability to reduce inflammation. Celery contains micronutrients and antioxidants that are natural inflammation fighters.

When celery is juiced, all of these nutrients are concentrated and can be absorbed easily into the body. Inflammation is an issue with acne and skin breakouts along with so many other issues and is why celery juice is claimed as a cure for so many things.

Increased hydration

Celery juice provides nutrient-packed hydration for your whole body. Your skin’s health increases when hydrated. This is particularly true when that fluid is packed with vitamins that are key to skin health like celery juice is.

Increases nutrient availability

Celery juice is full of nutrients like magnesium, zinc, and vitamins A, B, C, and K that are vital to healthy skin. Celery juice also has antioxidants that help the skin rejuvenate and heal.

How to Make Celery Juice

The popular celery juice cleanse entails drinking a 16 ounce glass of fresh celery juice on an empty stomach every morning. You will need about one bunch of celery - organic is best - for each glass and it can be made in a juicer or a blender.

In a Juicer

Making celery juice in a juicer is fast and efficient and can be made in a standard household centrifugal juicer, or for the most nutrition and juice yield, a masticating or cold press juicer is the way to go. There are lots of juicers that are great for celery but really any juicer can make you a glass.

To make celery juice in a juicer, wash and trim one bunch of celery. Cut the stalks to the appropriate size for the juicer you are using. Follow the manufacturer’s suggestions but generally, for centrifugal juicers, the stalks can run through whole, whereas cold press juicers will need the pieces to be one to two inches.

In a Blender

One of the great things about fresh celery juice is that you really don’t need a juicer or any fancy equipment to make it. All you need is a blender. A high-powered blender is definitely the best, but just about any blender will do.

To make celery juice in a blender wash and trim just like with a juicer. Cut stalks into about thirds but each bunch size and blender is different. For the first time, use smaller pieces to see what your blender can handle. Blend for 30 seconds to a couple of minutes until smooth.

Lower power blenders might need a splash of water to get things moving and will take longer to blend. When the mixture is smooth, pour through a strainer and let drain.

Treating Skin Inside and Out

Celery juice is a nutritious addition to your diet with lots of great benefits for your skin to help clear it from the inside. But that doesn’t mean that you should leave proper skin care to the side when you start drinking celery juice. A daily routine that includes a good quality skin care product along with fresh celery juice is a path to healthy, clear skin.
